Yes, I scheduled it that way!

Mondays and Wednesdays are always my crazy days.  My son is in half day Kindergarten in the morning and my daughter is in preschool in the afternoons.  I drop him off at 8:30 in the morning, go back to pick him up at 12:00, drop her off at 12:30, then go back to pick her up at 3:15.  We usually just sit in the parking lot at the school and read books between 12:00 and 12:30.   Last year when I thought about scheduling it this way, most people thought I was crazy.  I was always asked, "You didn't mean to do that, right?" or "Don't you want a couple hours a week alone to yourself?"  The answer to both is "Yes".

This was Future Fashionista's first year of school, which means this would be the first chance The Builder would  be able to have any alone time with me since FF was born.  Sure, we went on mommy-Builder dates occasionally, but with this schedule, I am able to have 5 hours a week alone with him. And you know what?  It's only one more year.  Next year, I'll be able to have 9 hours a week to myself once The Builder is in school ALL day (insert sad face here) and Future Fashionista is in preschool 3 days a week.

I haven't always spent our whole 2 1/2 hours together wisely.  Sometimes I have chores I need to do.  But, our time is quickly coming to an end!  FF only has 7 days of school left before the end of the year.  There are only 7 more days that The Builder and I get special one on one mommy-Builder time!

I guess I really need to focus on not being "busy" for those 7 days and  spend the time making more memories with him.  I can not believe this school year is almost over!!

Have any of you made your schedule harder or different in order to spend time with your kids? I think it is worth it.
