Thankful Thursday

I have a book called "A Collection of Blessings" that I picked up at a Family Christian bookstore.  It has great poetry by Helen Steiner Rice.  On days when it's hard to stay motivated, it's nice to pick up and read.  Here's a poem by her that is about thankfulness.  I hope you enjoy.  (I received no compensation for this post.  This is a book from my own collection on my overflowing bookshelf.)

"A Thankful Heart"
Take nothing for granted, for whenever you do,
The joy of enjoying is lessened for you.
For we rob our own lives much more than we know
when we fail to respond or in any way show
Our thanks for the blessings that daily are ours--
The warmth of the sun, the fragrance of flowers,
The beauty of twilight, the freshness of dawn,
The coolness of dew on a green velvet lawn,
The kind little deeds so thoughtfully done,
The favors of friends and the love that someone
Unselfishly gives us in myriad ways,
Expecting no payment and no words of praise.
Oh, great is our loss when we no longer find
A thankful response to things of this kind.
For the joy of enjoying and the fullness of living
Are found in the heart
that is filled with thanksgiving.
I thought this poem was lovely.  Especially since I'm right back to that point of being discouraged again with the daily to-do lists.  Be thankful always!!

Things I'm thankful for this week:
  1. Cherries!!! (You might remember cherries from my list of things I look forward to in the summer HERE
  2. Sunshine
  3. Breezes
  4. That my son still wants to go on Mommy-Logan dates
  5. That our "Summer" officially begins in 5 days!!!
What are you Thankful for this week?
