Thankful Thursday | First day of school!

Well, it's time to make my Thankful Thursday list.  I don't like to make these until Thursday morning, because I think it gives me a truer feeling of what I'm really thankful for at the time.  I can't pre-write it!

  • I'm thankful to Barbara at Spanish for Kids for hosting the giveaway for a great book called  It's Back to School We Go! by Ellen Jackson.  It was absolutely perfect timing that I got it in the mail yesterday!  Logan had his first day of school today.  So, we'll read it this afternoon while we're having our milk and cookies.  The book talks about the first day of school in different cultures around the world.  I think I'm going to borrow some of the ideas from Germany today!  I think I'm going to go get balloons today while Logan is in school to celebrate his first day.  The book also has a great list of Web Resources in the back.
  • I'm thankful that Logan seemed excited this morning.  He has been worrying about going into the 1st grade at a new school a lot lately.  He even asked why we didn't keep him at the "church".~~It was too expensive!  But, this morning, he seemed excited!
  • I'm thankful that my husband was able to be here with us as we sent Logan off this morning!  Thank goodness.  Between all of the preparations that I've been dealing with last night and this morning, something slipped through the cracks.  I forgot to put the little yellow bus tag on his backpack.  They asked that we put it on the bag for the first couple weeks or so to make sure kids get on the right bus.  I remembered as the bus was almost at our house.  I had to run up our long driveway, get the tag, and by the time I got back, Logan was already on the bus and the bus driver was pulling away.  I.  MISSED. HIM.  GETTING. ON. THE. BUS!!  It was his first time ever. Mike ended up passing the bus driver the tag through the window. Silly Mommy!  I hope he did okay.  His best friend lives a street over and should have been on the bus before him, so that's good.
  • I'm thankful that I'll get a chance to catch up on housework today, if Jaycee will let me!  I'm sure she'll be bored without Logan.
  • I'm thankful for the book  The Power of a Praying Parent by Stormie Omartian.  I think it's going to be well used this year!
I said the prayer from this book this morning about "Releasing My Child into God's hands"
I know it helped me!

"Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you."--Psalm 9:10 (NIV)
