Apple Picking!

Here in Northeast Ohio, there is an abundance of Apple Orchards.  There are 59 orchards just in Northeast Ohio listed on the Ohio Apple Orchard website!  A couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to go apple picking with Logan.  Then, the next day I went with Jaycee.  A lot of  Apple Orchards make apple picking season a whole event for kids.

One of the local orchards offers hayrides, a craft, a little bouncy house and
a corn maze where the kids have to find the seven dwarfs.

For $5, the kids can pick a bucket of apples, go through the corn maze, do a craft and jump in the bouncy house.  I think that's a great deal for the money.  My refrigerator is still packed with apples.  So, be looking for some yummy apples posts soon!  The first round of apples were Macintosh and Paula Red.  I'm not sure which ones we've been eating the last couple days, but boy are they yummy.  This week their Galas are supposed to be ready, but it's been raining all week!  So, we haven't gone to get them yet.  Galas are our favorite.

At the same orchard, they have a little farm stand inside.  I got the most juicy, sweet peaches.  I got a whole box for $5.  I ended up making a Peach Cobbler in my slow cooker (you know how I love my slow cooker!).   The farm stand also usually has peppers, tomatoes, zucchini, squash, onions, ornamental squash, pie pumpkins, etc.  And once all of the apples are available, they'll have Apple Cider!

Here are the pictures! I made them small, but you can click on them to make them larger.

If you're in Northeast Ohio, you can find a list of Apple Orchards and when each variety is usually ready for picking at the Ohio Apples website.

What kind of fun fall activities do you have in your area?
