41 year old on Heelys? Yes!

I was recently given the opportunity to try out Heelys. I'm sure you've seen the kids walking around and then all of a sudden skating?  I always think of Arizona on Grey's Anatomy as she rolls through the halls of the hospital.

So, I ordered my shoes,
which was an adventure all in itself!  I never realized that Men's and Women's sizes could be interchangeable.  I was a little confused by their sizing, but I figured it out!  And, now I know something I didn't know before.  When I received the shoes, they looked a little wide and I was kind of nervous that they would be too wide since I have an extremely narrow foot (AAA).  But, I was able to tighten the laces up enough to have them fit very comfortably.

The shoes are really cute and stylish.  I chose the gray/pink.  I know I'm 41, but I love the hot pink shoe laces!

The shoes come without the wheel installed.  It was easy to take the heel plugs out and install the wheels. So, at that point, I was ready to try them.

The first time I tried them, it was kind of weird. I figured it would take time to get used to them.  It was fun trying to find my balance.  I liked rolling on the shoes that way.  It was easy to balance if I could push myself with my hands on something.  But, I still need to practice going from a walk to a roll.  And it was definitely a good workout.  I was sore the day after trying them for the first time.

I do wish there was some way to lock the wheel when you want to just walk.  I'm not used to walking on them without heeling, yet.  I actually was wearing them around the house and almost did a split in the kitchen when I rolled on the heel one time.  And I did take a pretty good spill one time.

BUT, like anything else, it takes practice!  And that's okay.  It's been a fun thing to learn how to do.
Here's a video of me explaining how I "find my balance" and showing you the shoes.
Heelys is throwing a Black Friday special!! Between Nov 25-Nov 28, Buy any pair of Heelys, get the second pair for $25. Or buy a Nano, and get a pair of shoes for $25, and get free ground shipping on all orders!  That's a great deal if you have more than one child, or if you'd like to try a pair for yourself.
