Girls Costume Review | We chose Asoka!

We Looooove to dress up in our house.  Halloween is one of our favorite holidays.  And even when it's not Halloween, my kids can be seen dressing up as adventurers, pirates, army guys, princesses, you name it!  In fact, when my son was younger he was Indiana Jones for several months and then a cowboy for at least half a year.  Seriously.  He wouldn't leave the house without his plaid shirt, boots and cowboy hat.

I love dressing up so much that I own three wigs of my own.  Why have my own hair on Halloween?  We truthfully, actually make up reasons to wear costumes.  So, it's no wonder that my daughter also enjoys playing dress up.  We have our dress up bins and drawers stuffed with Halloween Costumes for girls and boys.

So, we jumped at the chance to review a girl's costume from the Costume Club
They have so many costumes to choose from, that the choice was almost hard!  They have every Disney princess costume you could imagine.  But, we have plenty of those already!  They have TV and movie characters to choose from.  The Wholesale Costume Club also has historical costumes and different holiday-wear.  We decided on an Asoka from Star Wars costume.

Remember the sticker we had on the back of the van and how Jaycee was mad because she didn't want to be Princess Leia?  She wanted to be Asoka.  So, I got her a costume so that she could dress up as her!!

Once I placed the order, I received the costume very quickly!  Wholesale Costume Club has expedited 2 day shipping for $6.99.  And that price goes for any amount of costumes you want to place in one order.  Don't need expedited shipping?  Then the price is $5.99 flat rate shipping for UPS ground.  So, if you find yourself busy during the Halloween season and you forget to get a costume, the Costume Club has a lot to choose from and you can get them quickly.

Jaycee wanted to put her costume on as soon as the UPS guy showed up! It was packaged like most pre-made kids costumes.
I was actually surprised by the costume.  When I read the description, I read that it was a jumpsuit with the skirt, etc.  But, it looked like the girl in the picture had her own leggings on.  I was very happy to learn that the "leggings" were actually part of the jumpsuit.  The quality seems about the same as most costumes I've seen in stores and the same as some of the costumes we have at home.  It is very similar to a costume you would be able to buy at a mass retailer.  I think the costume is a very good representation of Asoka!  The costume manufacturer nailed Asoka's look on the head!  It is very detailed.
There was one spot on a seam where two of the fabrics were sewn together on the back where it was coming apart very slightly.  It just looks like it might not have been backstitched at that end of the seam.  It's right on the edge and will be easy for me to fix.  For the price of the costume, it's still a great deal, even if I have to throw a little stitch in there to make sure it doesn't unravel.    The price of the costume that we chose is $21.96 for club members.  I wouldn't be able to make our own Asoka costume for that much.   So, as I said. . . still a great deal for us, especially as much as it would get worn in our house.

Here's Jaycee in her costume without and with makeup.  She loved the costume so much that she wanted to have the makeup, too!
As much as we love costumes, it would be a great deal for us to become a member of the club.  It's only $5 a year and would save us a couple dollars off each costume.  For example, the Asoka costume is $23.98 OR $21.96 for club members.  If we bought a costume for each of us, the membership would pay for itself  in the first costume shopping spree.  And Jaycee told me today that she wants to wear this costume for Halloween.  We ALWAYS dress as a family, so now the rest of us will have to find Star Wars costumes!!
Since I'm such a huge online shopper, I will definitely be shopping from this store in the future!

Does your family have a lot of dress up clothes or costumes?  Do you dress for Halloween?

Disclosure:  I was given a costume for free from Wholesale Costume Club in order to facilitate my review.  All opinions are 100% mine.  I found the opportunity on Tomoson!
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. Photobucket
