I have loved using my Design Pro knives. They really do make slicing and dicing a snap. My Design Pro Chef's knife went through a watermelon rind like butter. I was surprised at how easily it slid right through. And it makes me wonder how I used my little dull steak knives for so long!
What was I thinking?
Now, I can save time in the kitchen because I don't spend time fighting with my knives. With the innovative grip and the dots that show me exactly where to put my thumb and fingers, it makes cutting easy-peasy. The knife has an ultra-sharp (scary--but I'm getting used to it!) Japanese steel blade. It really does make cutting easy. I don't have to push as hard to make it through the items I'm cutting. The blade does it for me!

My Chef's knife makes my Easy Vegetarian Pasta Salad Recipe even easier!
Ingredients
(1) 12 oz. box whole wheat pasta (any shape, we prefer spiral, but only had tubes this time)
1 red bell pepper, diced
1/2 sweet onion, diced
1 head of broccoli, cut into florets
1 can of sweet corn, drained
1 can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
2 plum tomatoes, diced
2 slices provolone cheese, cut into small squares
black olives (optional--I can't use them because my hubby doesn't like them!)
1 bottle of Italian dressing
Directions
Cook pasta according to package directions, drain and rinse with cold water.
Dice red bell pepper, onion and tomatoes using the chef's knife.
Cut broccoli into florets and steam in a microwave proof covered bowl with 1/4 cup of water in microwave for 2 1/2 minutes or until desired amount of tenderness. Drain.
Dice cheese into small squares.
Combine all ingredients except Italian dressing in a large bowl. Mix well. Add 3/4 of the bottle of Italian dressing and toss to coat all ingredients. Chill for an hour or more.
More Italian dressing can be added after chilling if desired.

Here is a recipe that I used the bread knife for:
Garlic Bread
What you'll need:
1 Loaf of French or Italian bread
Bread Knife
3 Tbsp. butter
1/4 cup olive oil
1 Tbsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. Sea salt
1 1/2 tsp. dried parsley
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350.
Cut loaf of bread in half length-wise using bread knife.
Melt butter in microwave for 20 seconds. Heat 10 seconds more if not melted all the way.
Combine butter with the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
Brush butter/olive oil mixture on bread with pastry brush.
Cook for 15 - 18 minutes or until the edges are as brown as you like.
Fold the bread back together and cut diagonally into 1 1/2 inch sections.
Enjoy!

ReplyDeletei learned that for cleaning knives/taking care of them "For best results, hand wash your knives with a soapy
ReplyDeletecloth and dry immediately. Soaking wood-handled
knives in water can remove the natural oils from the
handles. Dishwashing may cause nicks on the blade
edges. Additionally, the heat and detergent may have
a corrosive effect on the knives." i really needed that!
