Handmade Feature Crafter | Amanda from Contented Comfort

Welcome to the Handmade Feature Crafter series.  Today I'd like to introduce Amanda from Contented Comfort.  Here she is to introduce herself!

I'm a homeschooling, work-at-home mother of two. I'm a big science fiction, fantasy, and mythology geek, and it shows in some of the original fragrances used in my bath and body products and my works of fiction. Finally, I'm one of those folks who can't leave well enough alone, so I'm always experimenting either in the kitchen or combining crafting techniques.

I do have a blog called "Diary of a Work-at-Home-Mom." You can find me over at http://www.diaryofawahm.blogspot.com.

I've been crafting in general as long as I can remember, so I'm not really sure how I got started. I suspect it has something to do with either my grandmothers or the woman who babysat me as a child and her mother as some of my earlier memories are of sitting with them attempting to join in with sewing or hand quilting. I got into soaping about two years ago after trying just about every soap on the store shelves, but still having one of the four of us reacting to them all. I started making soap for us, just so we could all bathe without breaking out in hives.

My favorite craft changes from time to time. I tend to pick up new ones every few years. Currently my favorite is crochet, though I do love soaping. I just love the freedom of it and the feel of the yarn in my hands. It's good stress relief, cheaper than therapy, and I can work on a project while cuddled up with my husband or girls in the evenings. I can't do that when I'm making soap. There are a lot of safety precautions, so it's something I have to do while the children are otherwise occupied.

I launched Contented Comfort toward the end of January last year, so right at twenty months. Etsy has my open date marked earlier than that, but I count from my actual first sales at my local open house.

My main page is www.contentedcomfort.com. I am on Facebook, Twitter, Etsy, and Pinterest. There are links to each of those accounts on my main website and my blog.

I do have the first few chapters of my first science fiction novel free to read under the blogs and books tab on the main website, that I plan to publish in the spring.

Thanks for stopping by Amanda!  Good Luck with your crafts and your books!!
