Christmas trees already?
We were on our way out to get my computer the other night. It was already starting to get dark. We were driving along and I saw a . . . . . wait for it. . . . . .a Christmas tree in someone's window. I asked my hubby, "Did I really just see a Christmas tree? I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and think that it was a tree decorated with orange lights for Halloween." Because, really? A Christmas tree already? Please let us get through Halloween and Thanksgiving first.
Don't get me wrong. I LOVE decorating for Christmas.I can't wait until this addition is done so that we can buy an 8 foot prelit christmas tree! We've been using the little tabletop tree for long enough! I miss my big ones. Our little tabletop tree is prelit and I love how easy it is to put it together. I know a lot of people make traditions out of going out and cutting down their tree--or at least picking a live tree from a tree lot.
But, I love the ease of an artificial tree. And I love that it doesn't make as much of a mess. We already have a 7 foot artificial tree somewhere in the attic, but it's not prelit and I really don't want to have to go through all of the stringing of the lights in the future. I always end up with little needle marks all over my arms because I thread them all the way up and down every branch. Although, I was at a friend's house last year and she just strung them around the outside of the tree and it was very pretty that way and she had a live tree. But. . . . . . nah! I'll stick with my easy, use the same one every year, Christmas tree.
I'll be excited when I can start putting our breakable ornaments back on! I think the kids are getting old enough now. And I'll be excited when I can have a theme tree. I always want to make a theme tree, but then I see my old ornaments that bring back sentimental feelings and I end up putting them all on the tree and it becomes a mish-mash tree. I think we'll keep the tabletop, the 7 foot and get an 8 foot tree. We could put one out in our sunroom, one in our living room and one in each of the kids' rooms. Then, I could have my mish-mash tree and my themed tree and the kids could decorate theirs however they want!
Now, just let me get through Halloween and Thanksgiving and I'll LOVE getting my little table-top tree up and decorated--as I don't think our addition will be done yet. But, truthfully, the way time has been flying, the Christmas season will be upon us in a blink of an eye!
Have you seen any Christmas trees up in your area yet?
