I have been taking probiotics for myself for quite some time now. I believe in the benefits that a good probiotic can provide. Now, there is a kid friendly probiotic that I can give my kids.
The probiotics come in powdered form in little stick packs. Kids can either stir them into cool foods like yogurt or apple sauce or they can pour it directly into their mouth.
My kids take it by pouring it directly into their mouths. But, I tried it too just to see what it was like.
If your child is a gagger or is sensitive to things being poured onto their tongue, I would suggest mixing the probiotic into something. I wasn't expecting it to be so powdery and it caused me to choke a little bit. But, my kids take it that way fine. They know that they can go slower and it's fine. They love the green apple taste and ask for their probiotics every morning. It can be taken with or without food.

My review of this product actually came at a perfect time. Logan had strep last week and has been on antibiotics. Antibiotics kill the bad bacteria that cause strep, but they also kill the good bacteria that help the immune system and help keep tummy problems under control. I feel good that I can help replenish Logan's good bacteria with KidsLac, since the antibiotics are taking them away.
KidsLac contains five different strains of healthy bacteria, including the DDS-1 strain of Lactobacillus acidophilus, which initiates the colonization of good bacteria and helps control pH levels primarily in the colon. Plus, it has Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium infantis (the main bacteria found in breastfed infants), Bifidobacterium lactis (supports the immune system), and Bifidobacterium longum (helps metabolize a wider range of carbohydrates).
Your kids might get some of these good bacteria from yogurts, but so many of the yogurts that actually have live and active cultures have so much sugar!! I try to limit my kids' sugar intake and yogurt can blow it sometimes. So, I feel better about giving them these stick packs, which are sweetened with stevia.
You can find out more information at the Global Health Trax website.
