Birthday? Anniversary? Give the Anytime Gift of Life-Giving Water
Do you know someone who is hard to shop for? Maybe you have a person on your list who always says, "You don't have to get me anything!" I know I always say that. Usually my hubby and I don't exchange gifts at all. It's my feeling that we can get what we want on our own during the year. We would rather have experiences together than more stuff.
But, what if you could give a gift to someone who really needs something? You could make a donation in your gift recipient's name. A very worthy cause to donate to is WaterAid America. When you make a donation to WaterAid America you will be helping people in third world countries to gain access to clean water and sanitation.
When you give the gift of water, you can give a card to your gift recipient to let them know that a donation has been made in their name. Here's an example of one of the cards that you can print out.
You can find more information at the WaterAid America Shop For Life.
Examples of dollar amounts that you can donate and what that money can buy are as follows:
* $100 -- Handpump
*$25 -- Water for Life (This amount could pay for one person in one of the poorest countries to have access to clean water and sanitation for life)
*$50 -- Four faucets
*$150 -- Construct a Well
*$250 -- Composting Toilet
As citizens of industrialized nations, we all take water for granted. We turn on a faucet at any number of places in our house, and we're able to get safe, clean water. I take it for granted so much, that when we had to shut our water off the other day for one hour, there were several things that I couldn't do that I normally do without even thinking about it! Think about how many times a day you wash your hands, or use the restroom, or put a load of laundry in or turn the dishwasher on or get water to drink or cook with. I would venture to say that I use water at some point in my house several times an hour. Can you imagine not having access to any clean, safe water?
So, the next time you need a gift for someone, remember that you can give the gift of water, which in turn can give the gift of life. All donations are fully tax deductible, or for more feel good reasons to donate, check out this "Thank You" video.
Do you have a gift you need to buy soon?
