If you have children, I'm sure you are quite used to the question, "Can we go to the park?" I hear it so much! And I love to be able to take my kids to the park. Luckily, we have two parks/playgrounds very close to us. And if we venture out a little farther, there are probably hundreds. I was actually planning on making a Playground Passport last summer and never got around to it. Hopefully I'll have time this year. This picture was taken at one of our big wooden playgrounds. There are so many around here that are like big pirate ships and have tunnels and secret passageways. The kids love them.
But, there are some places in America where kids don't have safe places to play.
Thankfully, there is a nonprofit called Kaboom! that is trying to bring playgrounds within walking distance to every child across America. Children who have safe places to play are fitter, smarter, more creative, happier and more socially adept (find access to research HERE)
Right now, Kaboom! is hosting a contest on their Facebook page. You can submit a picture of your favorite playground and be entered to win great outdoor toys.

I've seen a park that Kaboom made and it was great, and really added to the sense of community.
