 Checking Out Restaurant Websites

Most restaurants nowadays have their own websites, even if the restaurant is considered a mom and pop variety. Go on one of the more popular search engines and do a quick search for the restaurant you'd like to go to. If they have a website, check it out and see if they have any available specials or deals for the day you're going. For example, some restaurants might have a deal where kids eat free or you can get a free adult-sized entree by visiting on a certain day of the week. You wouldn't have known this by just visiting the restaurant and sitting down.

Another reason to check out the restaurant's website is because many of them, especially the chain restaurants, have membership clubs that you can easily join for yourself. These membership clubs will often send you coupons by email that might include money off of dishes or even free desserts and appetizers. It really does pay to join as a member because the restaurant may even send you a ticket for a free entree every year for your birthday. If you sign every member up within the family, this could mean lots of savings coming your way by just eating out.
You can also check out places like Yelp or Groupon. They will often run promotional campaigns on behalf of the restaurant to encourage new customers.

Getting to Know the Restaurant

Another way to save money when eating out is to carefully choose both the restaurant you're going to as well as the dishes on the menu. Not all restaurants fall into the same caliber when it comes to how much they charge for their food. Certain restaurants charge a lot of money per entree while others are more family-friendly and budget-friendly as well. Before you go to just any restaurant, it pays to check out their menu either on the Internet or by going in and asking for one. Look at the prices listed to see if you can afford the food before you make the decision to go in and sit down.

You may also want to get to know any deals that the restaurant has that could save you money. Many restaurants have specials where you can get a free dessert if you order a specific type of entree, and this can save you money if you were  planning on getting dessert anyway. The type of research that you do can save you a lot of money when you choose to go out to eat alone, with a loved one or as an entire family.
