Thankful and Thrifty Thursday (A Day Late!)

I love this time of year!  Everyone is finally having their garage sales.  I truthfully didn't do much garage sale shopping the last two years, but the stuff that I did get we use all the time!  Last year we were lucky enough to find bar stools for our island.

This year I have a short list of things that I need~~small nightstands for the craft room, small tables for the front porch, ladles, white curtains, possibly a summertime comforter for the Master bedroom (remember, I would like to give it a summery makeover?).  I saw a beachy palm tree quilt yesterday while we were out garage sale shopping, but it was only a size "Full" and I thought maybe I could find something better in the coming weeks.  Next Thursday is going to be a huge Garage Sale day with lots of neighborhood garage sales going on.  I'll have to finalize my list before then. . . . and maybe print it out and laminate it.  Haha.  That's a joke.  Although maybe that's not a bad idea!

Here's what I got for $12 (total) yesterday.
Hunger Games book for The Builder to read
DodgeBall DVD for a movie night sometime soon
Little notebook for Future Fashionista (she's  freak for these things!)

Large picture frame--I'll paint the frame and take the multi-picture thingy out
10" Corningware "skillet" buffet server
2 Blue Raymor Italy pottery pieces
A corduroy blazer(I have no idea why. . I like corduroy jackets for some reason right now!  and it was only 25 cents!)  striped, slouchy short sleeved top, a yellow tank top with tags still on from Express, black workout pants and a Danskin workout zip jacket (both because we're still going to train for another half marathon again this year),
a St. Patty's Day Tshirt for next year, a little black knit dress I plan on wearing as a bathing suit coverup, a slouchy sweatshirt (I can never have enough casual sweats for around the house in the Wintertime, which seems to last 6 months up here!), a fitted white button-up and a long sheer black curtain panel.

Not bad for all of the above for $12.

I also got a couple things at an antique store.  I got a little bracelet which is so delicate and cute for $2.95 and a pearl necklace for $5.95.
Obviously they don't go together.  I just thought they were both cute.  And the pearl one will be good if we ever get around to doing our "Old Hollywood" photo shoot, since my inspiration is Audrey Hepburn.

NOW, onto Thankful Thursday!

  • I'm thankful that my friend and I were able to go out garage sale shopping yesterday and had a nice lunch at this place!  It's an old firehouse turned into restaurant.  It's right by the river where an old mill used to be.  They have cute old-fashioned firehouse decorations around.  They also have a deck overlooking the river and ravine.  So nice and yesterday was a perfect day for it!
 Cheers!

  • I'm thankful that the kids and I have had a good couple days this week~~could be that the weather is making everybody happier!!!  The Builder had a good soccer practice yesterday. . . I heard lots of giggles and good times.
  • I'm thankful that we'll be getting together with our friends again tonight.  Yay! to front porch parties with friends.
  • I'm thankful for my Mom and all other mom-figures I've had in my life. . . . . . . they blessed me so much and each one contributed a little piece to who I am today.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them all!
  • I'm thankful for sweet notes from my kids, dandelion bouquets and for them still asking me for hugs, even though they're getting older.
  • I'm thankful for new opportunities for family members and any prayers that can be said for those (vague, I know.  but God knows what we need!)

  1. Thank you! We'll be going out again this week. Hopefully this week I'll be able to find stuff that I actually NEED instead of just "like". :)
