Second Day of Winter and Cookie Making Time!

These days seem to just be flying by!  Thankfully, we've made it to the first day of Winter and we've already made it through the longest night of the year.  I am so happy that the days just keep getting longer from here.  It seems like it wasn't even an issue this year.  Maybe I've been so busy that I haven't noticed the sun going down sooner.  Maybe it's been so warm that I haven't been paying attention to how dark it's been in the mornings!  Who knows?!?  But, I'm so happy that we're on the upswing to longer days and more daylight.

I know that El Nino has been causing some issues for some areas, but it has blessed us with warmer than normal days.  Although it would be nice to have snow at Christmas, I'll take this warm weather any day.

On the first day of Winter we had near-60 degree weather and some peeks of blue sky!

The girlie and I finished up our grocery shopping~~hopefully!

And last night I began cookie making.  It was almost an afterthought.  I decided the night before to make cookies this year.  I'm not going to say it wasn't a challenge with my recovering broken hand.  Oh my goodness my hand is stiff today!  And it probably took me twice as long to make the cookies because making the dough was tough with either my broken hand or my uncoordinated hand.

Here are two of the recipes I used.  I love allrecipes.com.

Russian Tea Cakes

Oatmeal Butterscotch Cookies

I also made candy cane chocolate chip cookies

and I have the dough for the peanut butter cookies in my fridge.  I had to quite at 12:30 last night!  I was whipped.
