I should tell you guys that I'm not trying to lose weight. I'm just trying to reshape what I can reshape.
I want to be stronger. I want to have more endurance. I want to be more flexible.
That's why these are my fitness goals for 2016:
Walk another half marathon.
Do 20 real pushups.
Be able to do a split.
Those are "measurable" goals. At this point my goals aren't based on appearance, although when I started working out again at the beginning of December, it was to have good abs for the Undie Run. Now I have fitness goals, although if I get rock-solid abs out of this whole thing~~BONUS! At 45 years old and having had a 10 pound baby~~yes, you read that right~~I had a 10 pound baby nine years ago, I'm not sure if the kind of abs I want are possible, but I'm going to try my hardest to find out. This is my year, people! Who's doing it with me?
In week 2 of 2016, here are the workouts that I've done and the videos that I used this week.
Jillian Michaels Killer Abs, Flex Appeal, Fat Burning Pilates.
Here's how my week looked and what I accomplished:
- Saturday: 90 wall pushups
- Sunday: 35 minutes on my step, 25 minutes of stretching and some random yoga and pilates moves. I worked out a total of 50 minutes.
- Monday: 20 minute Belly Dance workout, 30 wall pushups (knee pushups and real pushups are still too hard)
- Tuesday: Fat Burning Pilates for abs, 20 counter pushups and 20 wall pushups
- Wednesday: 1 hour on my step, 30 minutes of stretching and 80 wall pushups
- Thursday: off
- Friday: Jillian Michaels Killer Abs
Here's a very poorly drawn picture to show you how I'm built and the part that is finally going away after 1 1/2 months of working out. No matter what your body shape or size, just know that everyone has their issues with their body! I'm working on getting rid of those issues, both mentally and physically this year.
This body has done some incredible things that I never even thought were possible. I didn't think I was "built" to have a baby and I had a 10 pound baby without having a C-Section! God was just showing me one of the many ways my body was incredible and trying to show me that my "doubts" about myself are unfounded. I've also learned a lot going through the occupational therapy for my hand. I've learned that I'm able to recover from some pretty painful things and that if I work hard I can get to the level of flexibility I'd like to be. If my hands can recover from being restricted for 3 months, I can certainly gain the flexibility needed to do a split.
I'm going to stop doubting that my body can do things and just start working hard to make them happen.
How are your fitness goals coming in 2016???
