Homemade Mint Coffee Sugar Scrub

This post was originally at one of my other blogs.  We did it last February, but it is really time to do it again!  I sometimes use coffee grounds as an exfoliator by themselves also.  I take coffee grounds straight out of the coffee maker and save them in a bowl so that I can take them in the shower with me.  They provide great exfoliation without even adding any other ingredients~~what it does to the plumbing?  I have no idea.

Future Fashionista and I are having way too much fun coming up with different pedicure themes.  This week we did a Mint Coffee pedicure.  This was the homemade scrub that we used.

We made it with:
2 tsp. Coconut Oil, melted
2 tsp. used coffee grounds
1 packet mint tea
about 5 -6 Tbsp. Brown Sugar

After we melted the coconut oil in the microwave for 30 seconds, we added the 2 teaspoons of used coffee grounds.  Then we broke open our mint tea bag and added that to the mixture.
At that point we added sugar until it was the consistency that we wanted.  We used around 5 - 6 Tablespoons of brown sugar.  We mixed it all together, closed it up and plopped it in the fridge until we were ready.

It didn't feel tingly at all while we were using it, but my feet were so refreshed afterwards.  It's nice for my poor feet after standing all day or working out.
We made a huge mess!  But, it was totally worth it.  I think coming up with different pedicures will become our Sunday night tradition.  What will we come up with next?

It only takes 20 minutes a week and it's time well spent with my little.

If you decide to try something like this, make sure you rinse everything off with clear water.  If you have sensitive skin, this might not be for you!

Do you use ingredients from your kitchen for spa treatments?

    1. Thank you Homegrown! I hope you enjoy it. It is a mess, but it's worth it. I've been taking coffee grounds into the shower with me lately too. It's a great exfoliator!
