Get Clearer Pores with Mark & Jo's Pure Mud Calcium Bentonite Clay Mask

I was looking in the mirror the other night to see if I can see any improvements from any of the anti-aging products I've been using.  It's so hard for me to tell differences sometimes.  I honestly think most of them have been working out pretty well!  My skin has definitely improved.  I've never looked in the mirror so much in my life as I have trying to see differences from trying these products lately.

BUUUUUUUT, when I was looking the other night, I saw clogged pores!  I've gotta tell you, I spent years with acne and blackheads when I was younger.  I had acne all the way from my pre-teen years to my thirties.  I'm no stranger to clogged pores.  I just didn't expect to have so many once I was also dealing with the signs of aging.  It doesn't seem fair, right?  Wrinkles, fine lines and blocked pores all at the same time?

I've been using clay masks on and off as part of my skincare regimen since those early acne days.  Now that I'm older and the acne is gone for the most part I don't think about it as much anymore.  When I looked closely and saw those blocked pores, it reminded me that I still need to do a clay mask once or twice a week!

I've recently been given the opportunity to try out a bentonite clay mask.  **I received the product for free in exchange for my honest opinion.  All opinions are 100% mine**

I was kind of surprised when I received the Mark & Jo's Pure Mud.  The container was a lot bigger than I expected.  Also, I didn't realize that it was actual powdered bentonite clay.  For some reason, I was expecting a premixed clay mask.  It's actually pretty cool, though.  With the size of the container and the fact that I can mix it myself as needed, I figure this container should last me a while.

It should last a while, unless of course, I decide to do a mud bath.  I've never done that before!  It gives directions on the container for a mud bath.  I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds very spa-like doesn't it?  The directions for the bath say to add 8 ounces of the pure calcium bentonite clay to the tub and wait until it's fully dissolved.  There are 16 ounces in the container, so you could get two spa bath treatments from this container. The price seems reasonable enough that I might buy a new one to try the clay bath as part of an at-home spa day.

You all might be wondering, though. . . . . . how did it work as a facial mud mask?  It worked wonderfully!  I truly love this product.  It's easy, too.  Just mix equal parts of the calcium bentonite clay and water.  We made the mistake of not measuring our first time and got too much water.  Then we had to add more clay.  Also, you need to make sure not to use any metal when mixing the clay and water.  There's a whole bunch of science behind using non-metal with the clay, with ion exchange and chemistry and stuff that I'm just not going to get into (chemistry was never my favorite subject.)

It's easy to mix and those blocked pores?  Gone!  Like most mud masks when you let them dry, it gets a little itchy once it's dry.  It also made my face red!

The redness only lasted about a half hour.  If you're going to try it, you might want to try it at night when you don't have anywhere to go.

Maybe I'll skip the makeup while I'm running errands today and give myself another little spa treatment this afternoon.  I really want to give it a try on my feet, too.  I believe I could mix a little up, add a drop or two of Peppermint essential oil and have a nice little pedicure treatment.  I've used a premixed peppermint clay mask on my feet before, but now I can mix my own when needed.  I love the versatility that this calcium bentonite clay powder has.

I love that this Pure Mud is 100% natural.  Since it's just the Natural Calcium Bentonite powder, and you mix it as needed, there's no need for the preservatives that a lot of the premixed mud masks in tubes have.  That's a bonus for me since I'm trying to go more natural.  There seem to be lots of other great uses for calcium bentonite clay online as well, including a homemade natural toothpaste.  Maybe I'll try that next?

I believe now that I've used Mark & Jo's pure mud Pure Calcium Bentonite Clay, I'll never go back to a store-bought pre-made clay mask again!  The price seems right, I love that it's natural and it cleaned my pores.  Win, win, win!

You can find Mark & Jo's at Amazon.

Have you ever used a pure calcium bentonite clay for any reason before?
