4 Fabulous Outdoor Lighting Ideas

When the summer arrives, and you want to spend more time out in your garden, you want it to look nice and inviting. Having the right plants and a comfortable seating area is obligatory, but sometimes you crave a little bit more.
To increase your garden’s ambience, you need some outdoor lights that can illuminate the features of your garden to enhance the atmosphere. Here are some lighting ideas that you can use to brighten up your garden at night.

Stake Lights

Stake lights are an ideal solution for gently illuminating an area. You can then focus on the areas that need lighting up by simply using the stake to plant the light into the ground where you need it
If you want to change the position of the lights, then you can just pull them up and reposition them. They are a great portable and non-permanent solution to lighting specific areas, and are usually solar powered.

Tree and Bush Lights

A hugely effective way of lighting your garden is by having lights at the base of trees and under bushes. Not only does this provide an effective LED landscape lighting solution, but it also helps to bring out the interesting features of your plants.
Most of the outdoor lights are black, however, for those installed amongst plants and trees, the olive-green ones tend to blend in better.
Another idea is to install the lights on the tree itself. This can achieve an amazing look to the garden, and make the tree come to life. It is an effective way of illuminating your trees all year round; in the summer when the trees are full of leaves, and in winter, when its bare beauty can cast long shadows.

Step Lighting

If you have steps in your garden that people will use all the time, it is a good idea to place some lighting around the steps. Not only will it look nice, but it will also keep people safe from tripping or slipping on the steps.
You have a couple of options, you can have recessed lights at the side of the steps that shine along the step, or you can have lights inserted at the back of each step. Whichever way you decide to do it, the effect will be amazing.

Water Features

A stunning water feature cries out for some interesting lighting. You don’t have to install underwater lights; you can have them along the edge of the pond or waterfall to focus the eye, and allow the light to be reflected in the water.
If you do want to use underwater lights, then you need to make sure that they are safe to use immersed in water as some brands may differ from outdoor lights.
By using a few simple lights here and there, you can transform your garden, and make it far more inviting in the evenings. Don’t forget to use additional lighting near the seating area so that people can eat or drink in the warm summer evenings.
