Tips for Making Your Home Brighter and Cheerier

It gets tiring living in a home that feels like all signs of life have been sucked out of it. If you’re sick of having a home that’s dark and dreary, you’re not alone. Many homeowners live like this because they aren’t sure what to do about it.

If you’re ready for a change, it’s time to take responsibility for the way your home looks and start working on improving it. The good news is that it’s a problem that can be mended with the proper course of action. Doing so is going to make everyone in the family a lot happier. See tips for making your home brighter and cheerier.

Natural Light

Start by making it a habit to open up your blinds each morning. Go around to each room and adjust the covering so it’s letting in a decent amount of light. Open the windows when the weather’s nice and let in some fresh air while you’re at it. Another idea is to install skylight windows in your bathroom or family room. Window installation Orange County understands the importance of having the proper windows and skylights. They increase the comfort and efficiency of your home and draw in more natural light. If you’ve never had them before, you’ll be sure to enjoy the benefits of skylights.

Paint

It may seem like an easy idea, but paint has a big impact. Paint your rooms a brighter color and instantly transform the entire mood in the room. Do this in any area of the home that has a dark paint color and enjoy the immediate results a fresh coat of paint brings. This is a budget-friendly project that has the power to make you fall in love with your house all over again. Research ahead of time and pick colors that have the ability to give you the bright and cheery look you’re going for.

Décor & Pictures

If you want your home to be livelier, then you have to take the time to decorate. Head to your basement and find the décor you never had time to put out in the past. Add plants, vases and fresh flowers to brighten up the space. Place and hang colorful artwork that enriches blank walls. Make your space feel homier by sprinkling family photos throughout your rooms and hanging them on the walls.

Furniture

There’s no better time than now to get rid of old furniture that’s drab and worn out. Pick out chairs, tables and couches that are vibrant and have new written all over them. Furniture has more ability than you think to bring down or enhance the look of a room. Include small pieces that pop with color and character too. If you are unable to afford completely changing your furniture, choose a couple colorful pillows, throws and area rugs to bring new life to your furniture.

Conclusion

It’s normal to one day look around and admit that your house needs a boost of energy. Take action by researching ideas and making changes one step at a time. These are tips for making your home brighter and cheerier.

  1. Natural light is so much better then flicking a switch but it is great that we live in a time when we can just flick a switch and have a nicely lit room
