How to Keep Your House Clean and Organized

Do you dream of living in a clean, clutter-free, and organized home? Perhaps you do a thorough clean up once a month, but soon let your best efforts slip aside, or you find it hard to keep on top of all of that dusting or polishing that you need to do? Maybe you own too many ornaments or keepsakes, but don’t want to get rid of them, even though you don’t have the space for everything. Well, it’s time to make a change for the better. You’ll soon find that it’s easy to keep your home clean and in a great condition, even if you are balancing a full-time job and childcare.

Sure, the idea of living a life that is free from clutter and excess ‘stuff’ may sound appealing – but do you know how or where to start? There are a host of benefits that you can access as soon as you pledge to live a life with fewer possessions, including less to clean and organize.  It can feel overwhelming and stressful if you want to declutter your home. Begin small

When it comes to decluttering your home, don’t try to do it all in one go. You could start by writing a list of items that you are ready to sell or donate and try to stick to it. If this is too difficult, then try getting rid of one item at a time. Try to focus your attention on one area of your house, such as the kitchen or living room. You could even start to view your home as a minimalist would – are you guilty of hoarding magazines or coffee cups on your nightstand? If you have a small room that needs some serious attention, such as your bedroom, then get ready to use all the space that is available to you.

Consider buying boxes to increase your storage space under your bed, ideal for shoes and bedding. Get rid of any large, bulky items of furniture that could be making your room feel dark and oppressive. Decide what sort of environment you want to create in every room – is it for relaxing in, socializing, or even just spending quality time on the couch with your loved ones? If you have too much clutter, the chances are that you don’t even realize it – so try to get your friends or relatives on your side to help view your home with a fresh pair of eyes.

Sort out your closet

Once you’ve started small, and are feeling inspired, then its time to turn your attention to other areas of your life such as your beauty products and clothes. We are all guilty of hoarding certain items of clothing or pairs of shoes that we love, even though they now are old and scuffed, or perhaps they don’t even fit anymore. Well, its time to make a change and let go. Begin by sorting your closet into categories: items that you use for work, and items for socializing. Try putting your shoes into seasonal categories too, such as boots and winter-wear, and heels or stilettos for work and parties. Get rid or donate any items that you no longer need – remember this isn’t an excuse to go out and replace them either! Finally, organize your accessories. You are sure to have jewelry or scarves that will brighten up an outfit, without you having to spend on new ones.

Get rid of garbage

All that clearing is going to result in a lot of trash, so it’s up to you what to do with it. If some of the items that you are getting rid of are in good condition, then you could consider holding a yard sale if you want to earn some extra money, or even donate your used good to charity. You could even use a professional valet trash service to help you get rid of your garbage, click here to find out more. Remember, if you are getting rid of rotting food or building materials, then it’s important that you dispose of them properly, as these could pose health risks for your family and neighbors.

Get Cleaning!

You’ve gotten rid of your clutter, and taken out the trash, plus you now have a whole new practical closet ready for you to enjoy – so its time to begin cleaning! Start by clearing your surfaces and let those cleaning products work their magic to add a new life and shine to your home. Alternative methods, such as using vinegar and water to clear grimy shower screens and windows, or even using an old toothbrush to clean corners or surfaces, will work wonders too. Even if you don’t usually enjoy cleaning your home, you are bound to notice a big difference now that you are living clutter free. So grab your cleaning products, put on your gloves and get ready to scrub, polish and shine your home!
Keep these steps handy to ensure that your house remains clean and organized for good. First, make sure that you begin small when decluttering and ask yourself if you really need or use each and every object that you own before you decide to get rid of it. Next, sort out your closet so that you can keep your outfits better organized. Don’t forget to properly dispose of all that trash that you will acquire, after clearing out your home or apartment. Finally, roll up your sleeves and get ready to clean.  Congratulations! You can now enjoy a whole new lifestyle in your clean and clutter-free home. While it can be hard to stick to these new habits, it’s important that you learn from the organizing and decluttering process to avoid falling back into the same old pattern that you previously followed.
