Quick, Easy, Healthy Chili Mac

We had a busy day yesterday.  I needed something for dinner that was quick and easy.  And that the kids would hopefully like.  So, I made Chili Mac.  Here's the recipe if you'd like to try it!

13.25 oz. box of whole wheat elbows
1 lb. of ground turkey
14.5 oz. can of dark red kidney beans, drained and rinsed (dark red have more antioxidants than light beans)
28 oz. can of crushed tomatoes
1 Tbsp. Chili powder
1 Tbsp. Garlic powder
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. cumin
dash black pepper

Boil water in a large pot and cook pasta according to package directions.  My directions were for 7 minutes, which is what most elbows are--even the whole wheat kind.
Brown ground turkey in skillet.  When it's completely browned, add tomatoes, beans and spices.  Simmer for 5 minutes or until pasta is done.
Drain pasta and put back into big pot.  Pour turkey chili over macaroni and stir until mixed.

Quick, Easy, Healthy.
Make sure to rinse the beans to get rid of a little bit more of the sodium.  Canned beans have so much sodium!!  If you wanted to have even less sodium, you could find sodium-free crushed tomatoes.

If you'd like to make it a little less healthy, but really yummy. . . . top with cheddar cheese!
