At Least We Have Toilet Paper and Coffee

When the weather looks like this:
And the check battery light is on in the vehicle, you get happy about small things.  I was so happy that my van made it to the store and back again.  I was kind of nervous!  You do remember what happened the other day, right?  No?  You can read about it here:

When I was talking to the cashiers at the grocery store about the check battery light and almost not making it home the other day,
they both had theories about what could be going on.  One woman said that a lot of times mice get into the bottom of the van and chew the wires.  Yikes!  (And I'm not even kidding, I'm watching HGTV right now and there are mice that ate through the homeowner's wiring in their home on Love It or List It!  Darn little critters.)  I really hope that's not the case.  The other woman said her daughter's wires were expanding and contracting with the cold weather and the wires weren't making the connections properly.  All I know is that my hubby charged the battery for several hours the other night and that darn battery light is still coming on.

My poor hubby works so hard at his job that it stresses me out to have to tell him about the van.  He's so handy, he's taken care of a lot of things on the van already.  I just hate to add one more thing to his schedule, so I've canceled everything that I had going on this week.

Luckily, as I said earlier, I'm happy that old red (that's what I'm going to start calling my van now), made it to the store and back.  Now we have coffee.  And toilet paper.  We should be good.

Plus, I made sure to get stuff for dinner for about a week and a half.  Here's what our weekly-ish menu will look like:
Monday--Ground Turkey Tacos
Tuesday--Pork Fried Rice
Wednesday--Broiled Chicken Thighs
Thursday--Some Kind of Beef Stew made with French Onion Soup
Sunday--Leftovers or Breakfast for dinner
Monday--Rice and Bean enchiladas
Tuesday-- Might make this again--Chicken Sausage Casserole with Tomato Cream Sauce
Wednesday--Ham and Potato Casserole

Since I didn't want to go all the way to Aldi's since I didn't trust the van, I had to look up coupons and deals at Giant Eagle.  I was able to double up savings on a lot of things like Old El Paso products, Progresso Vegetable Soups and Cascadian Farms frozen veggies.  I spent a little more than I wanted to, but like I said:

At least I have my coffee and toilet paper.

I can live out of my pantry for everything else once we run out of other stuff!!!
