Help Kids Learn About Pet Care and Rescue with ASPCA Kids Rescue Readers

We have a cat that we love dearly that a friend rescued for us.  When we got our little kitty she was probably about a month and a half old.  She was matted and flea-bitten.  My friend had already put the flea medicine on her and the fleas were crawling off her.  The poor little thing had been living on the streets.  We gave her the name Allee because she was like an "alley cat."

Although she did have a family, the family was just going to let her run around outside without any formal care.  We took her to the vet and got her shots and worm tests and when the time was right, had her fixed.  She now has a family that loves and adores her.  My kids love that cat so much!  We've been thinking about getting a new kitten for her to play with.  We will definitely find one from a shelter.

We were recently given the opportunity to review a set of books called "Rescue Readers."

We received the product for free from the sponsor of the Moms Meet program, May Media Group LLC, who received it directly from the manufacturer.  As a Moms Meet Blogger, I agree to use this product and post my opinion on my blog.  My opinions do not necessarily reflect the opinions of May Media Group LLC or the manufacturer of this product.  We also received a couple other books that Studio Fun thought we would like: Superman Alliance of Heroes and Star Wars Mania.

I couldn't wait to get these books because I have a neighbor friend who loves rescuing animals.  I thought she and my daughter would really love these books.  There are books for each different age group.  There is a board book for younger children.  There are Step 2 books for fairly new readers and then there are chapter books for children who are able to read more independently.

Each of the Rescue Readers focuses on a story about an animal that has been rescued.

Studio Fun International worked together with the ASPCA to create the stories.  The stories are inspired by real-life rescue stories.  In the back of most of the books, you can read about the real-life animal that the book was based on.  The importance of care, protection and love of animals is central to the stories and each book has a happy ending with the animals finding their forever home.

The stories are told from the "voice" of the animal who has been rescued.  The words are simple words for newer readers and the pages have cute, colorful illustrations.  I really enjoyed "I Am Picasso"

4 - 5 % of the sale of each book goes directly to the ASPCA to help it's mission.

Here are the books we received.

We received a board book that has pages that are split in half, so that different things can be seen.  There are animals, colors and counting in this book.  The pages are thick and extremely colorful for younger readers.

The Level 2 books were really cute and even my 9 year old enjoyed looking at them.  She liked reading the story of the real-life animals that the stories were based on.  The level 2 books give parents hints from a literacy specialist on how to read the book.

The books also help teach kids how to care for animals and encourage a love of animals in young kids.

We also received one of the books in the Pet Rescue Club series.  These books were perfect for my 9 year old, as the main characters in the book are kids around the same age.  The kids in the book begin a blog about animals and eventually end up using the blog to help rescue animals and help them find their forever homes.

We received A New Home for Truman.

Studio Fun and Mom's Meet are also letting us host a giveaway for 2 of the level 2 rescue readers.

Be sure you check out Studio Fun's website and Facebook page.
