Slow Cooker Split Pea Soup

This is one of the easiest soups to cook.  The slow cooker does most of the work.

 I can't even tell you how much I love my slow cooker and how easy that thing makes my life in the kitchen!  We're having a cold, gray day here ~~~Split Pea Soup just sounded like a yummy soup to warm us up.  Split yellow peas are so rich and yummy and when cooked in a slow cooker, they break down and become scrumptious.  If you want to make this recipe even easier, you can buy pre-cut veggies and a package of diced or cubed ham.  The addition of ground white pepper adds a little kick to this Fall and Winter time comfort food!

Ingredients
1 - 1 1/2 cups diced ham
1/2 sweet onion, diced
2 stalks celery, sliced
2 carrots, sliced (we used rainbow carrots because it's what we had)
2 cups dry split peas
1 quart low sodium chicken broth
3 cups water
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper
1/4 teaspoon paprika

Directions
Add everything to slow cooker and cook on high for 4 hours or low for 8 hours.  See, I told you it was easy!
