Modernizing Your Kitchen for Style and Purpose

If you’re like me, your kitchen is your baby and you spend a countless amount of hours in your kitchen creating delicious meals. Over time, kitchen appliances and decor become outdated, and you might be thinking of a renovation for your home. In this article are some ideas to consider adding to your kitchen that will not only look incredible, but serve a great purpose too.

The first thing that you need to think about is what kind of design you would like to renovate your kitchen to, so that you can buy appliances and decor accordingly. Pick out a color theme (or a few colors) that you would like to incorporate into your kitchen. Pro tip: If you have a fairly small kitchen, stick to brighter colors so that the room appears larger and more spacey. If you’ve got a talent for using designing software on your computer, it might be a good idea to create a small scale version of your kitchen on the program so that you can see the colors incorporated before you spend any money. If you’re stuck for ideas on what colors you would like, here is some inspiration for you. Even if you have chosen to redesign your kitchen to have a more rustic feel to it, you can still have modernized equipment and gadgets without them looking out of place. This is thanks to the fact that you can now buy integrated appliances that will be disguised to look like your kitchen cupboards. You can even go as far as integrating your refrigerator so that the theme of your kitchen completely ties together.

Replacing your stove will completely change the look of your kitchen by itself. Many professional chefs are choosing to install induction stoves in their homes because of the efficiency of how they work, less chance of being burnt, and the fact that they don’t use any harmful gasses to generate their heat. You do however, have to buy special equipment to use them. For more information, read here on how an induction stove works, and the right pans to use. In my opinion, they are definitely worth the buy because in general, they are very stylish and will slot into any kitchen and look incredible. They can reduce cooking time dramatically too because of how quickly they heat up and cool down, so buying an induction stove is definitely something to consider.

The majority of us have now moved from the dark ages and invested into a dishwasher. Who has time to wash up these days? If you’ve already got a dishwasher, then you can simply choose to either have it on display in your new kitchen or to integrate it into your cupboards as mentioned earlier. If you’re thinking of buying a dishwasher for your new kitchen, you can even go as far as buying one that will project a light onto the floor to let you know when it has finished it’s cycle. Cool right?

When it comes to your current kitchen equipment, don’t throw it away if it’s still perfectly fine to use. If it doesn’t fit in with your kitchen decor, just make sure that you factor in enough cupboard space to store it all in. If however, you need to replenish your kitchen equipment, consider going for these no-fail kitchen gadgets that will last you for years to come, and come in super handy for all of your cooking.

Consider installing soft close drawers and cupboards to your kitchen too. Not only will it save you from accidentally slamming your fingers, it will protect the integrity of the cupboards and the contents inside of it, meaning that you shouldn’t have to replace either for quite some time. Also, nobody likes the slam of a kitchen cupboard or drawer do they? This way you can keep the tranquility in your new swanky kitchen. If you’re struggling for ideas on what kind of kitchen cabinets you would like in your kitchen, why not take some inspiration from these beautiful kitchens.

The type of flooring that you choose to have within your kitchen can also make a massive difference to productivity, and how long you have to spend cleaning it. Tiled flooring is a fail-safe way of knowing that if anything spills onto the floor, it’s easily cleaned up. Going for darker tiles will also eliminate the endless hours of scrubbing the grout whenever it gets a little dirty. Of course, I’m not suggesting that you can clean your kitchen floor any less, but it’s a common known fact that lighter flooring is harder to keep clean.

If you’re lucky enough to have a kitchen large enough to fit a dining table in too, then consider designing your kitchen to fit around your kitchen table, and make it a focal point of the room. Another idea that would really spice up any kitchen if you don’t want your dining table in there, is to create a freestanding center island that can hold even more cupboards and appliances. These are particularly useful for kitchens that frequently entertain, because you’re not stood with your back to your guests. Plus, they look super cool too.

Like with your living room, creating a feature wall within your kitchen to display pretty artwork, or a large clock will give the room an even more homely feel to it. This will even work for kitchens that are designed to look minimalistic. If you’re feeling really creative, you could buy a few extra tiles from behind your stove and create a pretty pattern on the wall out of the same tiles. There are so many different options to go for.

As you can see, there are so many different options that you could choose for your kitchen. So get creative and design the kitchen of your dreams! Remember, if you can imagine it, it can be done!
