Lunch at Whistle Stop Cafe in Plant City, Florida

On our last trip home, my daughter and I had a pretty short time to visit, although it truthfully ended up being the perfect amount of time.  We were home from a Wednesday night to a Saturday afternoon.  We were able to see all of our "core" people. . . .my mom, sister, niece, nephew, grandparents, aunt, cousin, dad & stepmom, brother, sister-in-law, nephew, stepdad. . . . you know, most of the "original" immediate family.

On Thursday, I got to spend time with my mom, aunt, sister, niece and cousin.  It was a girl's day out!  They decided that we would go to the downtown historic district in Plant City.  All the years that I lived in Florida, I don't think I had ever been there.

My daughter was less than thrilled going in and browsing the antique stores, so we didn't make a huge day of antiquing.  We went into a couple stores and then ate lunch at the Whistlestop Cafe.  It was really cute and very reasonably priced.  They do not accept credit cards, though.  So, be warned if you are ever in that area.  Bring cash or a check!

I had a burger salad.  It was like a bacon cheeseburger without the bun.  On top of lettuce.  It was very good.

Three others got some kind of burgers and they raved about them.  They said they tasted fresh like they were made from fresh meat, not frozen or pre-pattied.  They didn't have any fries.  The sandwiches and burgers were served with chips.

I didn't explore the whole menu.  It was just a fun, nice place to stop. All of the people who worked there were very nice.   They even had someone in the back playing the piano. At first we thought it was one of those old-timey player pianos, then we realized there was an actual person playing! Everyone I was with got one of those big cookies shown in the case above.  The cookies were as big as my head!  I skipped the cookie.
