Deck the Halls and Get Your Home Ready for Christmas Guests

Ding dong merrily on high! Christmas is just around the corner!

Excited? I’m sure you will be. But are you expecting it to be a busy one this year? It’s such a nice gesture having friends and family staying with you over the festive period, but you will certainly have a lot to do in the run up to the big event. Ready to roll up your sleeves and get down to everything that needs to be done? Here’s your checklist to get your house ready!

First things first - it’s important that you clear out as much clutter from your home as possible so that you can keep things nice and tidy while your guests are here. Plus, you might get a lot of presents from Santa, so you need to make some room for these! In the next few weeks, you should aim to cut down on all the clutter and mess in your home so that your guests can arrive at a very tidy house.

Carry Out Household Maintenance

Are there any DIY jobs that you’ve been meaning to do all year? Now is the time to do them so that they are all done and dusted before Christmas. If you think it’s time you replaced your bathtub, for example, take a look at the Homa Spa Select website to find a worthy replacement. It’s also a good time to replace any old carpets and curtains as well so that your home looks as good as new for Christmas. If you're not replacing curtains and carpets, at least have the carpets cleaned and wash the curtains so that everything is fresh.

Get Some More Chairs

Have you got enough chairs for everyone to cram around the big dining table for Christmas dinner? Even if you already have a few fold-up chairs, it’s worth getting a few proper spares as well. After all, you don’t want granny getting a bad back from sitting on a flimsy fold-up chair!

Air Out The Guest Rooms

If you haven’t used your guest rooms for a while, there’s a good chance that they will be quite stuffy and stale. So, spend some time airing them out to freshen them up. It’s easy to do this - you just need to leave the windows open for a couple of hours. Once you close the windows, you might want to add some incense sticks in the room or burn a scented candle to really improve the fragrance of the room.

Prepare The Fridge And Freezer

A lot of guests for Christmas dinner means that you will need to cook a huge feast for them on Christmas day. Have you got enough space in your fridge and freezer for all your ingredients and dishes? If not, you need to start sorting this out now. First of all, defrost the freezer if you need to. Then, start using the things that are left in your fridge and freezer so they are pretty much empty by the middle of December.

Once you’ve done all the points mentioned in this blog post, you’ll be all set for Christmas with guests. All that will be left is the big dinner that needs cooking!
